Jaeger LeCoultre (JLC) is a Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer that has a long tradition of supplying movements and parts to other prestige watches companies in Switzerland.
The company got its start producing unassembled watch movements (ébauches) for other well known Swiss watchmaking companies, such as Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and IWC and even supplied movements to the great firm of Patek Philippe
The company opened its doors in 1833 with the goal of producing manufacturing of high-quality timepieces
Jaeger LeCoultre has produced other measuring instruments, such as speedometers and fuel meters, under the Jaeger brand. The Jaeger instruments for automobiles were mostly used by the French automobile makers Citroën, Peugeot and Renault. Jaeger speedometers and tachometers were also supplied to British sports cars manufacturers such as Triumph. ManyItalian cars such as Ferrari have used Jaeger automobile instrumentation.
